Isabella Owen Perelman -- musically, just Isabella -- was born in Rio
de Janeiro, Brazil, but grew up and has spent much of her adult life in and around Washington, DC. She is a graduate
of St. John's College in Annapolis, MD, and studied voice and music at American University and elsewhere.
As a songwriter, Isabella's style is eclectic, with elements from folk (American,
Latin American, Celtic, and European), classical, country, American standards, and jazz. She is fluent in Spanish and
French as well as English and, an admirer of Brazilian music, she sings also in Portuguese. She plays guitar and
keyboard.
Isabella is an active member of the Songwriters Association of Washington. When not engaged in songwriting, performing, and recording, she also works as an editor of scholarly journals.
She and her husband, Lewis Perelman, have resided for several years near Washington in Northern Virginia.
